Tehran Book Fair hosts 110 Countries

The 30th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) has been opened with participation of publishers from 110 foreign countries.

The exhibition with an area of 135,000 square meters plays host to 139 foreign companies from 110 countries.

Some 2,643 publishers have put their books on display. Many of these publishers are from Iran.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed-Reza Salehi-Amiri, a number of foreign ambassadors, authors and publishers attended the inauguration ceremony of the event which is held at Shahr-e Aftab International Exhibition Complex, south of Tehran on May 2.

The Tehran International Book Fair is staged in Tehran early in May on an annual basis. The cultural event has turned into a landmark, momentous book fair in the Middle East and Asia after 29 editions in a row.

Millions of visitors inspect the fair every year, including thousands of university students, scholars and their families. The event currently serves as one of the most significant cultural events in Iran.

Hundreds of cultural projects are carried out during the term of the landmark Tehran event as sideline activities, including book review sessions, face-to-face meetings with Iranian authors, lecture sessions, and writing workshops.

The 30th edition of the Tehran International Book Fair is slated for May 2-13, 2017.
